Donated to a nonprofit using a credit grant from your company? Donations made with a credit grant are disbursed following the same timelines as a matching donation.

Timeline for credit grant donations (U.S. nonprofits)

  1. You submit your credit grant donation on January 15.

  2. The status shows as “Awaiting transfer from your company.

  3. On the 1st of the following month, in this example February 1, Brights Funds invoices your company for the credit grant funds.

  4. When the invoice is paid by your company (typically before the end of the month), the status of the credit grant gift will change to “Received by Bright Funds" - in this example this would happen in February.

  5. You will then see the status update to "Scheduled" meaning the funds will be queued for disbursement in the middle of the following month - in this example, mid-March.

  6. We send the donation to your nonprofit in mid-March and the donation should be received by the end of the month. Checks usually arrive within 5-10 business days; ACH/direct deposit in a few days. The status of the credit grant donation will update to "Disbursed." Hooray!

  7. If there was a hitch with the disbursement of the credit grant, the status will display as "Held" and you can get in touch with our team at support@brightfunds.org for more information.

To summarize: a credit donation to a U.S. nonprofit submitted in January will typically be disbursed in mid-March.

    1. If disbursed directly by Bright Funds: the status will display as “Disbursed” as soon as the organization has verified their charitable status and bank account information with Bright Funds.

      1. Direct disbursement should occur in the same month (March) or following month (April) depending on the responsiveness of the organization.

    2. If disbursed by our disbursement partner: in March, our partner queues the credit grant for their next disbursement, typically to be done in the following weeks, and wires your credit grant to the nonprofit.

      1. The nonprofit can expect to receive the funds around the end of the month, or into the beginning of the next month - in this example, end of March or beginning of April.

If there was a hitch with the disbursement of the credit donation, the status will display as "Held", and you can reach out to our team using the chat bubble to get more information.

To summarize: a credit donation to a nonprofit based outside the U.S. submitted in January will typically be disbursed to our disbursement partner in mid-March, and to the nonprofit in the weeks following.

Note: For credit donations, the two-month timeline is contingent on Bright Funds receiving the credit donation from your company, and may extend beyond that timeframe.
