Refunding your donation

Information on refunding a donation made in error.

Was there an error you noticed after you made your donation on Bright Funds? Below are a couple of common mistakes we can help with when a donation is made on Bright Funds.

I accidentally entered the wrong donation amount. Can Bright Funds refund my donation?

If you donated the wrong amount, you can request a refund as long as the donation occurred within the same month.

If you would like to have a donation canceled and refunded, please send the donation ID, found on your My Donations page, to our Support team at support@brightfunds.org, and we would be happy to help!

Donated to the wrong organization?

If you donated to the wrong organization, we can redirect your donation as long as you reach out the same month as your original donation. For example, if you made your original donation on January 10 and noticed it went to the wrong organization, you can submit a request to redirect to the correct organization before January 31.

You can use our Explore page to search for your organization. Please send the below information to our Support team at support@brightfunds.org, and we would be happy to help!

  • Donation ID (found on your My Donations page)

  • The name, charity ID or Bright Funds link of the intended organization you would like to redirect to

Please note, the organization you requested to redirect the donation to must be eligible to receive donations in Bright Funds in order for the donation to be redirected.
