If your company offers international giving, donations may be disbursed directly by Bright Funds or by multiple international disbursement partners via wire transfers to nonprofits based outside of the US.

Here are the status updates you will see along the way!

"Scheduled" - your donation has been received by Bright Funds, and is scheduled to be sent out in our next monthly disbursement.

"Disbursed" - your donation was disbursed to the nonprofit.

"Held" - your donation is pending to be confirmed as successfully sent by our disbursement partners. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our team using the chat bubble in the bottom corner!

Direct Disbursements via Bright Funds

When a nonprofit organization receives a donation for the first time via Bright Funds, our nonprofit operations team needs to reach out to the organization to verify their organization’s charitable status, contact information, and bank account information in order to wire donations to their organization. Here is a general step-by-step timeline:

  1. You make a donation to your nonprofit based in one of these countries.

  2. Within a couple of weeks, Bright Funds reaches out to the nonprofit with notification that they have received a donation via Bright Funds and an invitation to verify their organization’s information via an online form.

  3. Once the form is complete and the nonprofit shares bank account information, Bright Funds queues the donation for the next disbursement cycle and transfers your donation to the nonprofit, typically within the month or the following month.

  4. The status of your donation will update from “Scheduled” to “Disbursed”.

Disbursements via Disbursement Partners

Donations are typically sent to our disbursement partner the month after your donation, and our disbursement partner wires the funds to the nonprofit a few weeks later. Here is a general step-by-step timeline:

  1. You make a donation to your nonprofit based outside of the US.

  2. The following month, Bright Funds sends the donation to our international disbursement partner.

  3. Our partner queues the donation for their next disbursement cycle and wires your donation to the nonprofit, typically within the month or the following.*

  4. Once our partner confirms that the funds have been successfully disbursed, the status of your donation will change to “Disbursed”.

Please note this timeline may be extended due to certain factors, including partner disbursement minimums, pending confirmation of banking information, or if nonprofit must renew its eligibility prior to receiving funds.
